I have lots of things to post from work today! Above is a project that has been taking for-ev-er and we are all ready to see it complete. We have had difficulties with everything including placement of walls directly over a power line, brick selection & matching, and column replacement (yes, the mean architects had them take out the first one). It will be really cool if it ever gets done and its my very first everything project - I designed and convinced my boss that it was ok to put all that steel in a tiny entry, so he said, "ok - its yours!"

Next on the list of work things: redlines.

The top photo is what I volunteered to stay late a work to help with - there is something satisfying about finishing up a page of red with a stroke of orange highlighter. The other one...that is what my poor co-worker is sorting through - not satisfying to look at a see of colors and figure out what actually got fixed!

Its a day to be lonely in the city - downright glum. Sometimes you just want to go home to the familiar places that are a part of you. I haven't seen Grand Marais in a few months and its time to get back...its a bit like therapy, when you see that lake over the hill, whatever color it may be, its just a breath of fresh air.

If you plant sticks in pots for the winter, they grow buds in the spring! I am not very good at the blogging daily thing...I think my life is a bit boring, but I have to remember that this is just to record the year and not to impress anyone.

I walk through this intersection and always notice people are so mad. Today the traffic wasn't even that bad (maybe earthday had some effect on people driving to work), but people were still so angry. Please don't be so angry - maybe pack snacks.

We were in SD again this weekend. It was a trip to celebrate our niece's one year birthday, so there was cake and such festivities. There was also a sidecar ride for yours truly - Tim built one for his motorcycle thats pretty sporty.

No - I didn't take this today, but I am trying to remember what my flowers looked like last year. My grandma always draws up a map/plan and now I know why...its hard to remember. These were existing lilies that I inherited with the house, which was nice, but I still don't know what will come up. The association is deciding if they will approve my proposed garden proposal...keep fingers crossed!

Last night we went out to dinner and tried to go to a fancy place, but we got hotdogs instead. I think there was more than one of us who where actually happier with the hotdogs, so it all worked out in the end.

I spoke to soon about that walking thing...

4.09.2008

Its walking season again. I really love walking to work, but in the winter its a pretty cold venture across the bridge. Fall is the best season to walk, but spring takes a close second - both are a bit cooler, so I don't end up to work all sweaty and discombobulated. Its about 15 minutes by foot...I cross over two bridges, an island and sometimes a train to get there; the views include a giant beer sign, a residential tower and usually a left-over steel reserve can; AND if I'm lucky and on time, I get to hear the chimes from two clock bells.

This is what I'm reading right now.

I know it doesn't feel like spring outside, but I have green guys popping up in my garden!! This year I actually know what they are, so thats reassuring. I have a stack of books ready to look at over the weekend to plan out the new expansion. The two buds above are irises and there are tulips and what I think may be chives springing up as well. Better get the bunny fence up soon...

Home - rainy sunday. I used to get lonely on Sundays, but today, I feel really lucky.

We went to SD to visit our friends who just adopted a baby last October. I learned that there is more to SF than a commercial strip with an Olive Garden and Hobby Lobby, but not much. The falls are really just like GM rock formation, but a different kind of geology. Overall a great trip with great friends!
